Andy Hannah, president and CEO of Plextronics, was unanimously elected by the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Conference to serve as a member of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (PRA) Partnership. Hannah was elected to a one year term, which began on January 1, 2009.
The PRA partnership comprises 50 private and public sector leaders and economic development professionals from across the region, who work together to attract capital investment and create jobs in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Staffed by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, the PRA markets the Pittsburgh region to business leaders around the world and shares information, insights and opportunities among members to stimulate economic development in 10 counties.
Mr. Hannah is the president and CEO of Plextronics, Inc., an international printed electronics company focused on the manufacture of solar cells, high-efficiency lighting and circuitry from ink-based technology.
Active in the printed electronics industry and other entrepreneurial organizations, Mr. Hannah is the Vice Chairman of the Organic Electronics Association (a global organization focused on the commercialization of printed electronics) and a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University (on leave of absence beginning in 2009). He is also active in the following organizations:
• National Renewable Energy Lab Solar Technology Review Panel (TRP) member.
• Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization Center Board Member.
• Etcetera Edutainment (EE) Board Member.
Mr. Hannah spent the first six years of his professional career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, a global consulting and accounting firm, working with technology and middle market manufacturing organizations. Driven by his passion for entrepreneurial ventures, he spent the next seven years in senior management positions with three early stage companies in Boston and Pittsburgh: ISI Emerging Markets, STORM, LLC and Internet Venture Works, Inc.
He earned his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz School of Business with an emphasis in marketing and finance, and received his BS in accounting from Penn State in 1987.
