UniPixel, Inc. announced the receipt of its 25th design win in calendar 2016. The new device, an 11.6-inch tablet, will feature UniPixel’s XTouch touch screen sensors and will support stylus capabilities. The program award is from an existing customer.
“The award of our 25th design win this year represents an important milestone in the history of UniPixel,” said Jeff Hawthorne, president and CEO of UniPixel. “Since the April 2015 acquisition of the Atmel assets, we integrated the acquisition, refined our technology, introduced it widely to leading systems integrators, as well as the major computing device manufacturers around the world. We have made great progress in a short period of time.
“Our Colorado Springs factory is currently shipping touch sensors in volume production as well as initial pre-production volumes to enable our customers to prepare their manufacturing processes for their 2017 device production,” added Hawthorne, noting that 2015 was a year of first product shipments.
The company also announced the appointment of Michael Butler as VP of new product introduction (NPI) and customer support. Over a 17-year career Butler has experience in management of multi-site, international customer support and manufacturing engineering operations in the semiconductor, TFT-LCD and solar capital equipment space. He has held positions of increasing responsibility at companies including Photon Dynamics, Inc., Orbotech Ltd., and Orbotech LT Solar, LLC.
