Nanosys, Inc. and Exciton Technology announced that the two companies have strategically partnered in the development of optical Quantum Dot Enhancement Films (QDEF) using cutting-edge nanotechnology for display applications. QDEF technology delivers the brightness and full palette of lifelike colors required for the full UltraHD TV user experience that will drive the market to $52 billion by 2020, according toIHS Quarterly Worldwide FPD Shipment and Forecast Report.
According to the agreement, Nanosys and Exciton will collaborate extensively to manufacture and market competitive QDEF products to improve the demand for high-performance displays.
Exciton Technology is becoming a worldwide technology leader for QDEF films used in the manufacture of Ultra High Definition televisions. In addition, Exciton recently completed the construction of a new manufacturing facility with an advanced quantum dot coating line that is dedicated to QDEF production.
“Nanosys is the innovative leader in Quantum Dot technology – always providing the best quantum dot performance, material reliability, most competitive price and a solid IP foundation for Exciton and our customers,” said Dr. John Zhang, CEO, Exciton Technology. “We have already secured orders from display makers and will begin shipping QDEF in mass production volumes during the first half of 2017.”
