New technology, including enhancements requested by users and partners, were introduced in a new update to the award-winning Hirsch Velocity Software, Identiv, Inc. announced on Aug. 14.
The release adds enhanced communications protocols, government-grade biometric support and new Velocity and Hirsch ScramblePad features that manage access control and security operations in thousands of world-wide facilities, according to the California-based company.
Velocity now supports Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) communications between Identiv’s Hirsch Controllers, uTrust TS Government Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management-enabled card readers, and Hirsch TS ScramblePads.
According to Identiv, this provides advanced encryption options and the ability to download and update reader firmware from Velocity Software.
The OSDP implementation allows Velocity to support third-party authentication devices, such as the Veridt Stealth Series multi-factor biometric devices, that combine card, personal identification number (PIN), fingerprint and digital certificate validation.
Users will also have the ability to override normal system settings in emergency situations and have access to expanded relay and device controls.
“Not only do our new customers get all of these features, but virtually every Hirsch customer for the last 20+ years can upgrade… without sacrificing their existing investment,” said Mark Allen, Identiv GM, Physical Access.
Identiv will demonstrate the latest version of the software as ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits 2017 in Dallas from Sept. 26-28.
