Emerson announced the retirement of COO Ed Purvis after 34 years with the company. His retirement is effective Dec. 31, 2017. Steve Pelch, currently EVP of organization planning and development, will succeed Purvis as EVP and COO of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
Purvis, who began his career with Emerson in 1983 as a product planner with Copeland Corporation, quickly took on numerous roles of increasing responsibility. “I want to thank Ed for his outstanding leadership, dedication and friendship over the years,” said David Farr, chairman and CEO. “He has played a vital role in helping Emerson become the company it is today – the organization would not be the same without his leadership and unwavering dedication to delivering the best to our customers.”
