Björn Garplind and Anders Friberg from Östergötland, and their company, InviSense, were named the winner of this year’s CREATE Prize, Sweden’s largest inventors’ prize.
“Every time we did not get the prize I was just as happy. It meant we got a step closer to winning a big prize. When the jury read out the ‘Social problem with moisture ...,’ we knew we were going to win,” said Garplind, CEO of InviSense AB.
“We have many ideas on how we can develop the product further, and we want to develop our moisture scanner to a new level. We also want to develop our cloud service that moisture scanner communicates. The aim of our product is that it must be extremely easy to use,” said Garplind.
The technology behind InviSense product was developed at RISE Acreo and Linköping University in the Printed Electronics Arena platform.
“Without the Printed Electronics Arena, this product has never been on the market. This will become an export success in the long term. We will need to build manufacturing plant in Östergötland and send the product to the world market,” Garplind noted.
The future looks exciting for InviSense. The company will venture into the concrete industry, where the measurement of the drying out of green concrete is one of the industry’s major challenges.
