The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft) and the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation (Technical University of Liberec) joined forces to establish a Center of Excellence. With the Memorandum of Understanding signed in December 2018, the partners agree on common objectives: with their synergetic competencies in the field of nanomaterials and technologies, they enhance their research capabilities and extend their network in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.
The bases of the cooperation are the teaming project NANOMATCON (Multifunctional Nanoparticles and Materials Controlled by Structure), funded within the European program Horizon 2020, and some applied projects with Czech industrial partners. The next steps are proposals to claim for national and European funding.
In the future, the center will develop nanomaterials for biotechnology, medicine and telecommunications systems as well as energy generation and storage.
