Craig Blue, a program director at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been elected a 2019 fellow for SME (formerly known as the Society for Manufacturing Engineers). The honor recognizes Blue’s outstanding contributions to manufacturing materials, processes, composites, additive manufacturing and energy efficiency to advance the nation’s economic competitiveness.
Blue began his career at ORNL as a materials scientist and was founding director of the DOE’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at ORNL. He directs ORNL’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program.
Blue was one of six fellows from industry, government and academia elected nationwide and the only fellow representing a national laboratory. Since 1986, SME has recognized more than 400 members for their decades of dedication and contribution to the manufacturing profession. In November, SME will install the 2019 class during its annual Installation & Awards Gala in Chicago.
